Welcome to a typical Saturday morning with me in downtown Des Moines!
If you ever visit me, this is one of the first things we’ll do because, let’s be real, these Iowans go to the market like it’s their JOB. It was so crowded and so large (vendors lined multiple streets in all directions), I kinda got lost multiple times. Luckily, I had a few landmarks to remind me what direction I was going (hello, State Capital!)
There were traditional farmers’ market items like corn and veggies and even some exotic?? things like my personal fav, mango on a stick. Plus, the mornings are cool, there’s live singers — oh, and there’s a wine booth.
The only other thing that might rival my love for the market is my new obsession for a new clothing store that seriously gives back in a big way. During my first time to Jordan Creek Town Center (aka the only real mall here), I discovered Altar’d State, which is a hybrid of Anthropologie, Francesca’s and everything you could ever want in a store. The best part? The biz’s mission is to “stand out. for good.” On Mondays, 10% of all sales go to local charities, and the company is always supporting other companies with the same mission. I’m allll about that.
Did I mention that this dress was $13?? Umm, it was originally $70, so there’s that.
So, I had to pair my two fav things about this new place in one post this week! Prepare to be OBSESSED.
Join Abigail and I through one of downtown’s most hoppin’ events, and watch me get way too amped about my mango dressed up in lime and chill powder (warning: there’s some not too cute faces of me below, but I’m all about showing what really goes down at a photo shoot)
dress: altar’d state // jewelry: kendra scott // shoes: sam edelman // bag: express // bralette: abercrombie (only $10 on sale!!)
