I flew out to New York for Teen Vogue Fashion U on Wednesday morning with my suitcase half full. I’m not only coming back with three days worth of Express clothing, but also priceless connections and knowledge to kick start my fashion career in New York City.
Five days, early mornings, late NYC nights. It was a mix of Sex and the City and Confessions of a Shopaholic. I “Carrie Bradshaw’d” hard this weekend.
To share what I’ve learned and what I did this weekend, I’ll be doing a three-part recap so keep an eye out for two more posts this week! Let’s get started with day one.
*Prior to day one of Fashion U, Express sent me a few pieces from the new spring collection. On Thursday, I visited the store in Soho to pick out some stunning pieces to complete the looks!* #shoppingspree
Fashion U officially started on Friday night at the Express kickoff party in Times Square. There was a line wrapped around the store. Tourists thought we were crazy bargain shoppers waiting for a sale. What they didn’t know was that we all really wanted to get our hands on some insider knowledge from the Teen Vogue editors like Andrew Bevan, Elaine Welteroth and even editor-in-chief Amy Astly! This weekend was constant *fangirling*
As a style ambassador, I got quite a few perks adding to the already super-glam weekend. Here are the ones from Friday night:
1. I modeled a two-piece snakeskin pant and crop top combo, pink pointed flats and turquoise statement necklace. You cans shop all the style ambassador’s looks at Express.
2. I did a street style photo shoot with a group of photographers (who have worked with stylist Rachel Zoe) and the Snapchat guy for Express in Times Square. Tourists thought we were famous and took our photos too. Photos will be used by Express for promotions and recap videos!
3. Had the exclusive opportunity to take group photos with the style ambassadors and Teen Vogue editors Andrew Bevan and Jessica Minkoff. I was lucky enough to squeeze in right between them!
4. Mocktails. Munchies. DJ. Flash tat bar and eyelash extensions. Life couldn’t have been more fabulous.
It was such an honor to be one of five style ambassadors. Express said they stalked all 550 of Teen Vogue Fashion U student’s social media accounts and they wanted me to represent the global brand. I had the privilege to work closely with the Express team and even some of the Teen Vogue staff. Thanks to them, I now have four fashion friends in New York, Colorado, San Francisco and Chicago.
It will be hard hopping on a plane to Phoenix tomorrow. But I can’t wait for you to read my other VIP recaps this week!
